Implementation: Adoption vs. Abandonment
You have met your client, analyzed their strengths and weaknesses, maybe you did a nice SETT process…you found a tool. Now what? How do you promote use and success of the tool you worked hard to find? This session will review some of the evidence bases which identify factors which predict adoption or abandonment of tools. Come learn what can be done from assessment to receiving equipment to help increase success.

Sayard Bass,
M.S. CCC-SLP/L-ATP
Sayard Bass is an SLP focused in the area of alternative and augmentative communication as well as assistive technology. She is an adjunct faculty member in the UIC AT Certificate Program, is RESNA certified, and a member of ASHA SIG 12 on AAC. Sayard has had a variety of experiences from serving individual districts, working as a contract SLP, and in cooperative settings. She presents nationally, and internationally. She has been featured in Closing the Gap magazine, Infinitec Webinars, AT Industry Association, Closing the Gap, Division of Career Development and Transition, Rehabilitation Engineering Society of North America, Illinois AT Project, Illinois Association of Administrators of Special Education, Infinitec Practitioners Conference. She volunteered with Sol y Luna - Merida, MX, and Instituto Parálisis Cerebral – Quito. She currently works in Chicago's Southwest Cook County Cooperative Association for Special Education (SWCCCASE) and lives her husband, cat, and toddler.
